Technical Writer

Daune has over 25 years of experience in producing deliverables for all phases of the software development lifecycle. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism and a dream of joining the Navy. Instead, she answered an ad in the local paper and was offered a technical editing job in Akron, Ohio. In 1991, she left Akron to work for the Department of Defense in Saudi Arabia, writing military award citations for the Office of the Adjutant General.

Daune’s IT career began as a software tester on a Y2K project. She was introduced to cyber security in 2010 while working at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. Since then, she has worked for the Department of Interior, the Small Business Administration, and the Federal Aviation Administration. In her current role, she supports the Forest Service Cyber Security Management Program in the development, maintenance, and delivery of cyber security assessment and authorization (A&A) deliverables.

Daune grew up in Xenia, Ohio. She has lived in 10 states and 14 cities. In 2006, she cashed in her Frequent Mover Miles and finally settled in Northern Virginia. Daune’s hobbies are photography, playing guitar, and riding her bike. Her favorite seasons are Buckeye football and Jayhawk basketball.
