Ren has spent 40 years in the IT field with a focus on application development for mission critical business systems. A graduate of Western Michigan University, Ren got his start as a software developer for a large federal agency specializing in end-user productivity and organizational messaging. He later spent several years providing commercial consulting for Lotus Development and IBM, during which he developed the security tracking application for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, before becoming a business area Director and Senior Scientist for Creative Technology (purchased by General Dynamics).

Ren founded Excel Technologies in 2003 and served as its President until 2016 and as its Chief Financial Officer from 2016 to 2018. He is currently Special Advisor to the CEO.
